Beyond Birth Program

In partnership with the Pediatrics Department at BCHS, this innovative program provides newborn follow-up care for up to 8 weeks, including: jaundice screening, weight checks, immunizations, newborn care education, support for breastfeeding and lactation, and peer support for new parents.

Who's it for?

Our ultimate goal is to help meet the needs of all postpartum families in our community.

We are currently able to care for people who:

  • have no family doctor, or those whose access to their family doctor is limited by availability or distance

  • those who want help with breastfeeding

  • or those who face other challenges in accessing health care (e.g., lower-income families, young parents, LGBTQ families, etc.)

How do I participate?

Just come to the hospital and have your baby! Registration to this program will be done by a midwife before discharge from BGH, and appointments will be booked by our midwife during your stay in hospital.
